'Whiz Bang Science Show' Is Thursday (6/10) in Secrest Arboretum

June 8, 2010

WOOSTER, Ohio — Secrest Arboretum’s first “Whiz Bang Science Show” of the year blasts off on Thursday (6/10) at 7 p.m. The popular program, presented by “Dr. Dave” Lohnes of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), is free for kids of all ages and their families.

This month’s topic: Different states of matter — solids, liquids and gases.

Lohnes, who works by day in OARDC’s information technology department, says the show aims to “excite kids and spark a deep interest in science.”

Find Secrest Arboretum on the OARDC campus, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster. Meet in the John Streeter Garden Amphitheater, about 1.7 miles from the main campus entrance.

Call 330-464-2148 or 330-263-3700 for more information or in case of questionable weather.

The show will be held on July 8 and Aug. 12 as well — same time and place, but different themes.

OARDC is the research arm of Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
