WOOSTER, Ohio ââ¬â Gwen Chamberlain, a 2005 Triway High School graduate, and Kristen Jackwood, Wooster High School class of 2003, have received the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Centerââ¬â¢s (OARDC) 2005 Family Scholarship Awards.
Chamberlain, daughter of Ken and Jacki Chamberlain of Shreve, is a freshman at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio, majoring in international leadership studies with an Asian focus. She has been accepted into the McDonough Leadership Scholars Program and rows with the collegeââ¬â¢s womenââ¬â¢s crew team. Her father is a photographer in the Section of Communications and Technology on OARDCââ¬â¢s Wooster campus.
Jackwood, daughter of Daral and Renee Jackwood of Wooster, is a junior art major at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio. She is a member of Wittenbergââ¬â¢s Art Club, is assistant new member coordinator for the Sigma Kappa sorority, and participates in intramural soccer and flag football. Her father is a professor in the Food Animal Health Research Program at Wooster and is director of OARDCââ¬â¢s new Center for Diagnostic Assays.
The $500 awards, to be used toward tuition and other college costs, were presented by OARDC Associate Director David Benfield on behalf of the OARDC Family Scholarship Selection Committee in a luncheon ceremony in Wooster.
Funded by private donations to Ohio State Universityââ¬â¢s Campus Campaign, the awards are given each year to two dependents of OARDC employees.
OARDC is the research arm of Ohio Stateââ¬â¢s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
