WOOSTER, Ohio -- Complete lists of the trees, shrubs and herbs to be sold at Secrest Arboretum’s May 7 Plant Discovery Day have been posted on the arboretum’s website, http://secrest.osu.edu/. Click on “18th Annual Plant Discovery Day” under “Upcoming Events.”
In all, more than 30 kinds of herbs and 100 types of trees and shrubs, including a number of unusual varieties, will be offered. Proceeds will benefit the 120-acre arboretum, which continues to rebuild after a tornado strike last fall.
Among the herbs: Two kinds of parsley, four of sage, a mix of rosemary and 10 of thyme, plus basil, fennel, stevia and more.
Pawpaw, redbud, dogwood, dawn redwood, Knock Out roses, cedar of Lebanon and California incensecedar are some of the trees and shrubs.
Secrest Arboretum is part of Ohio State University’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), 1680 Madison Ave., in Wooster.
Hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in and around Fisher Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public. Annuals, perennials and art will be sold there too.
