COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A weeklong "Paws, Claws, Feathers and Friends" 4-H day camp and a three-day overnight 4-H "Camp Tech" are planned at Ohio State University's Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center this summer.
The camps, designed for students entering grades 6, 7 and 8 this fall, are part of the science, technology, engineering and math offerings by Ohio State University Extension's 4-H Youth Development program, said Sally McClaskey, program coordinator for Ohio 4-H.
- 4-H Camp Paws, Claws, Feathers and Friends is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25-29. It's geared for kids who want to learn more about pets and other companion animals. Visits to Ohio State's College of Veterinary Medicine, a local animal shelter and an aviary are planned. Class size is limited to 24; registration is $175.
- 4-H Camp Tech is scheduled for July 19-21. Campers will build and program a robot, use GPS receivers in a treasure hunt, and learn the basics of engineering design by building a bridge and trebuchet. Students stay overnight in university dorm rooms. Class size is limited to 24; registration is $190.
