WOOSTER, Ohio Secrest Arboretum will host a free ââ¬ÅWhiz Bang Science Show for children and families on Thursday, June 11, at 7 p.m.
Dr. Dave Lohnes of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), a favorite of kids who has done some 100 shows like it for more than 10,000 people since 2003, will lead it.
Im going to talk about buoyancy, he said ââ¬Åhot-air balloons, lighter-than-air balloons, maybe even crush a 55-gallon drum, and maybe an explosion or two.
Lohnes, who holds a doctorate in plant genetics, specializes in taking complex scientific concepts and explaining them in a simple, entertaining way.
ââ¬ÅWhen Dr. Dave covers the audience in toilet paper to help teach them about flight, his promotional material notes, ââ¬Åthey really start to get excited.
Math, history and geography too are woven into the show, which touches on a range of Ohio Teaching Standards and is strong in the Physical Science Indicators of the Ohio Academic Content Standards.
