Register by Thursday (8/4) for Ohio Compost Tour

WOOSTER, Ohio -- Registration for next week’s Composting in Ohio 2011 tour continues through this Thursday (8/4). The program offers a firsthand look at three large-scale composting facilities, all in northeast Ohio. It’s set for Aug. 11.

General registration costs $40 and includes lunch. Student registration costs $25 and includes lunch as well.

Hours are 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. with stops at the Medina County Municipal Solid Waste Processing Complex, Baldwin-Wallace College’s industrial-scale Earth Tub food-waste composter in Berea, and Rosby Resource Recycling in Brooklyn Heights.

Participants can go directly to the first stop, the Medina County facility at 8700 Lake Rd. in Seville, or can ride in a van leaving at 7:30 a.m. from the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, 1680 Madison Ave., in Wooster. Space in the van is limited; reserve a spot when you register.

OCAMM and the Organics Recycling Association of Ohio are the sponsors.

OCAMM is part of OARDC, which is the research arm of Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
