Organic Program Focuses on Cover Crops, Fertility

WOOSTER, Ohio -- Farmers interested in learning more about organic crop and livestock production have the opportunity to attend an Ohio State University Extension tri-state organic IP video program.

The event will be held on Feb. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Research Services Building, room 130, on the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development campus in Wooster, Ohio. The IP format will allow participants to interact with presenters from Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

Farmers, consultants, Extension educators and ag business personnel are invited to attend the free event.

The agenda of the program is cover crops and fertility management and topics of discussion include: using rye with no-till drilled soybeans in organic production; potential fertility improvements from cover crops; annual ryegrass use in cropping systems; overview of cover crop options in organic production; and farmer testimonials.
