Northern Ohio Vegetable Crops Field Night is Aug. 3 in Fremont

FREMONT, Ohio -- Healthy tomatoes and hot peppers are on the menu for this year's Northern Ohio Vegetable Crops Field Night, which will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the North Central Agricultural Research Station near Fremont.
 
Free and open to the public, the event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Part of Ohio State University's Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), the station is located at 1165 CR 43, Fremont, Ohio, in the fertile vegetable-producing soils of Sandusky County.
 
Topics and research projects to be discussed include tomato varieties for healthy tomato products, different cell sizes for tomato transplants, tomato and pepper fungicide trials, a new pepper variety trial, and Minor Crop Pest Management (IR-4) project results.
 
Event speakers include Sally Miller, Department of Plant Pathology, OARDC and OSU Extension; David Francis, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, OARDC; Mark Bennett, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, OARDC and OSU Extension; Elaine Grassbaugh, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, OARDC; and Leona Horst, U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service.
 
The Northern Ohio Vegetable Crops Field Night is sponsored by OARDC and OSU Extension, the research and outreach arms, respectively, of Ohio State's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
