Media Advisory: Tree Inventory in Fairborn Tomorrow (5/25) Highlights Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week

May 24, 2011

FAIRBORN, Ohio -- Researchers and volunteers with Ohio State University Extension and officials with the city of Fairborn will conduct a tree inventory tomorrow (5/25) at the Community Park, in an effort to highlight the multiple environmental and economic benefits of trees as part of Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week (May 22-28).

Reporters are welcome to attend the activity, which starts at 12:30 p.m. The Community Park is located at 691 East Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn.

EAB is an exotic, invasive insect that has killed millions of ash trees in Ohio and several other states. EAB Awareness Week is an effort to raise awareness about this and other invasive pests that threaten trees in forests and urban settings. More information is available at http://ashalert.osu.edu.
