Media Advisory: OSU Extension to Host Farm Bill/Crop Insurance Program Jan. 21

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Media are invited to attend a 2008 Farm Bill and crop insurance program, sponsored by Ohio State University Extension and Farm Credit Services of America.

The program will take place on Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, 2100 Fred Taylor Drive, Columbus. RSVP to Teresa Funk at funk.67@osu.edu or call (614) 292-4077.

The 2008 Farm Bill/Crop Insurance In-Service for Agriculture Professionals will host the following guests: Gary Schnitkey, University of Illinois Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics; Carl Zulauf, Ohio State University Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics; David Drake, U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency; and Dudley Lipps, Farm Credit Service.

Topics discussed during the program will include the 2008 Farm Bill with special emphasis on the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) and Supplemental Revenue Assistance (SURE) programs; ACRE program evaluation; loans for beginning farmers; Farm Credit Services; crop insurance overview; and crop insurance decision tools.

There is no fee to attend the program.
