WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center's Plant and Animal Agrosecurity Research Facility (PAAR) will be named after longtime U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (Ohio's 16th District), at a ceremony this Friday, June 8, at 3:30 p.m. Regula has been a strong supporter of the facility. He retired from Congress in 2009.
PAAR is the first facility in Ohio and one of only two in the nation equipped to do research on infectious diseases of both plants and animals at the BSL-3 (biosafety level 3) and BSL-3 Agriculture safety levels.
The ceremony will be held at the Miller Pavilion, approximately one mile from OARDC's main entrance at 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster. Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee will be among those attending the event.
