Media Advisory: OARDC in Wooster to Help Launch State's 100 Gbps Broadband Network Tuesday, Dec. 11

December 7, 2012

WOOSTER, Ohio -- Reporters are invited to the inauguration of Ohio's 100-Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) statewide broadband network, which will take place Tuesday, Dec. 11, at various university sites -- including the Wooster campus of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC).

Starting at 11 a.m., Ohio Gov. John Kasich will lead the teleconferencing event from Columbus and will answer questions from the media attending at each site.

Speaking in Wooster will be OARDC Director Steve Slack and Al Yeagley, vice president of industry and government affairs for the J.M. Smucker Co.

Updating Ohio's current broadband infrastructure from 10 Gbps capacity to 100 Gbps is expected to advance research and job growth across Ohio's medical research, higher education, manufacturing, engineering and technology networking corridors.

The event will be held at room 121, Fisher Auditorium, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster.
