Farm Green Year Round. Learn More at Ohio No-Till Field Day, Sept. 1

RADNOR, Ohio – "Farming Green Year Round" is the theme for this year's Ohio No-Till Field Day, which will focus on production practices that emphasize environmental stewardship while improving the bottom line.

 

The event will be held September 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Rodman Farm, 6822 State Rt. 203 north of Radnor, Ohio. Registration is $20 if received by August 24 and $25 at the door.

Topics covered include cover crops, no-till production, conservation management, financial assistance for beginning farmers, water quality trading, women in farming, drainage control structures, soil pits, planter/drill adjustment, strip-till, and precision agriculture. Speakers include Ohio State University specialists, farmers, U.S. Department of Agriculture specialists and industry representatives.

In addition to the sessions, there will also be machinery demonstrations. A spouses program will also be offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include such topics as cooking with edible plants, installing rain barrels, skin cancer prevention, and making dried floral centerpieces.

Ohio No-Till Field Day sponsors include Ohio No-Till Council, Ohio State University Extension, NRCS-USDA, Delaware Soil and Water Conservation District, Monsanto, Oregon Ryegrass Commission, Kale Marketing, Farmers Commission, Ohio's Country Journal, Conservation Tillage and Technology Conference, Champaign Landmark, Parrott Implement and Twin Diamond.
