VAN WERT, Ohio — Two days of agricultural and horticultural workshops, educational sessions, wagon tours of research plots, equipment demonstrations and farm collectibles toy shows are ushering in the 30th anniversary of Ohio State University's Farm Focus — northwest Ohio's premiere farm show.

The event will take place July 30-31 on the Marsh School Foundation Farms, located on the north side of Van Wert on the corner of U.S. Highway 30 and U.S. Highway 127. The show will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 30 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 31. Admission is $3 at the gate; children under 12 get in for free. New to this year's show is a farm equipment consignment auction.

Events on tap for the show include wagon tours, a self-guide tree identification tour, a children's safety fair, the state invitational youth tractor rodeo, an adult tractor rodeo, tractor pulls, a pond clinic workshop, landscaping demonstrations and a variety of entertainment. The events will cover over 15 acres of agricultural and horticultural exhibits.

Sessions over the two-day period include the "U.S. Animal Identification Plan," "Identifying Alternative Enterprises for your Farm," "Introduction to Managed Grazing," "Market to Market," "Improving Profitability by Using Cover Crops," "Oats and Other Alternative Forages," "Quilts," "Fall Magic for the Landscape," "Hydroponic Greenhouses," Aquaculture Opportunities in Ohio," "Barn Restoration," and "Direct Marketing and Identity Branding of Beef." The sessions will be given by Ohio State University Extension specialists and other agricultural specialists from throughout Ohio.
