December 4-H Science Saturdays Program on 'Amazing Magnets'

November 16, 2011

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Kids are certain to be drawn to the next "Science Saturdays" program offered by Ohio State University Extension 4-H Youth Development.

"What's the Attraction? Amazing Magnets!" runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Ohio State University's Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, 2201 Fred Taylor Drive, Columbus.

Research assistants from Ohio State's Department of Physics will begin with an "electric experience" and help kids discover how electricity and magnetism are closely related. A search for magnetic materials follows -- and they are sure to show up in surprising places.

Science Saturdays are for kids in grades 3 through 6. Cost is $5. Group size is limited. Preregistration is required by Nov. 30. The registration form is available to download at http://www.ohio4h.org/4hscience/.

The next 4-H Science Saturdays program is planned for Jan. 14.
