COLUMBUS, Ohio -- On Sunday, Aug. 14, the Franklin County Master Gardener Vegetable Outreach, Education and Research Project will host its last gardening program of the season from noon-1 p.m. in Columbus.
Free and open to the public, the event will be held at the Waterman Agriculture and Natural Resources Laboratory, which lies just west of the Ohio State University campus. Enter at the farm’s Kenny Road entrance, a half mile north of Lane Avenue.
“How to Grow 100 Pounds of Potatoes in 4 Square Feet,” by master gardener Greg Stange, will be the event’s main presentation. Other master gardeners will be on hand to lead tours of the Project’s garden and to answer vegetable-gardening questions.
“While you might not be able to harvest exactly 100 pounds from this intensive growing technique, you will most likely get more than the usual amount of potatoes as a result of this unique box,” said event coordinator Annette Swanberg.
Ohio State University Extension and the university’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center are the sponsors.
